when you CRASH into something, you are supposed to lose all momentum.

You just need to remove one rock to remove the back-to-base route on Crossfire. It's a pretty risky route anyway, since it goes straight through the base.

I'm having a hard time visualizing this Back-to-Front rock route on Crossfire. B2F on Crossfire is a personal favorite. You ski down the hill in back, hit the small mound down at the bottom as a ramp and sail in through the back entrance and grab the flag. Where is the bounce? Unless you're hitting that mound from the front and to the side? Which would make it a "rock route" and more of a side-to-front.

Here's an example of what the rockbounce backcap on Crossfire looked like:

everyone who is crying:

"We want physics fixed...but not the huge exploits that allowed us to gain stupid fast speed at completely crazy approaches."

Just like people cried months ago about bunny hoping exploit being removed which allowed crazy speed from just hopping off the ground.

So, its about time its gone, for the most part t least..

The last bounce is an example of a "broken" bounce, and should be kept out of the loop. But less steep bounces should be allowed, I think.
As you can see, it's the same rock being used as the previous video example.

Why exactly should it be allowed? You're essentially crashing in to a rock at 300 km/h, under no logic would you bounce, you'd splatter.

The same thing here, bouncing added nothing to the game for anyone other than the cappers, who suddenly got access to some insane turns meaning they couldn't be caught under any circumstance (without even mentioning the insane back > base routes you could do under 10 seconds).

Obviously, logic does not need to be applied to a game. It's about having fun, isn't it? And bouncing was fun. Shame you never got to try it.

All classes could bounce. This affected both the cappers and the chasers, so there's no advantage to either. The only problem with bouncing were certain broken routes that could largely be attributed to inconsiderate placing of obstacles and geometry. You could either disallow broken bounces using map design or coding. They went with coding but nerfed it way too much.

People who find rocky glitches to get underneath the terrain--hell, even aimbotters--also claim to be maximizing their fun. I don't care about their fun. The final result of their fun is toxic.

Clearly the trade-offs involved are much more complex than you say.

I'm glad they removed these so called bounces because I couldn't do them and thought they were stupid. You should not be allowed to use the physics in a game to your advantage, that's just not fun or realistic. This is why quake 3 failed because strafe jumping was stupid physics exploit and not fun. Hopefully they take out skiing next patch as that physics glitch has been in tribes for far to long.
to much?

Why are people calling rock bouncing a glitch? It's a cool mechanic and I think it was intentional.
It should be re-added to the game, in a balanced fashion of course. No 180 bounces, and even 90 degree bounces are somewhat questionable, but the others should be fine.
