Post Bringing back bounce physics
I just tried playing after a long break and noticed how all the fun bounce routes have been completely ruined. Even if you bounce at an angle of only 45 degrees you lose a huge amount of speed.

I can understand why 180 degree bounces were removed. I do think that bounces with an "inside angle" of more than 90 degrees shouldn't be as penalized as they are now and be reverted back to their old state.

This picture is an example of a bounce with an "inside angle" of 90 degrees. You enter at 45 degrees in relation to the wall.

Entry angles of roughly 45 degrees and lower shouldn't be speed penalized, imo.

This used to be a great part of the game that added both depth and fun. You would experiment with colliding into different objects at different angles to see if you could find a brand new route or approach.

Am I the only one missing the bounciness?

It's obvious that even reasonable bounces were nerfed and make you take damage. The patch notes lied in that sense; the angle doesn't have to be anywhere near 180 degrees for the nerf to take effect.

I never really used bouncing, but it seems like a good mechanic to me.

I hate people who call bounce routes fun.

They are only fun because the enemy team can't seem them coming and they are ridiculously strong.

They needed to be nerfed and i hope they stay that way.

Still, Hi-Rez stated in the patch notes that they intended to keep rock routes in the game, but all of the good ones were pretty much ruined.

how many of these good ones were close to 90 degree turns?

Plenty of the routes I was using that no longer work were between 45 and 90 degree bounces. Perfectly fine and balanced imo.

I can see how 180 turns should be removed, afaik they were only a problem on Tartarus due to its map design. But why were the fair routes also made useless in the process? It does not make sense to remove a great gameplay element like that. It added so much to the game.

Ever used a route that required bouncing?

Nah, dont bring them back. Im glad they are out.

TA has enough bizarre, non-intuitive physics... and flag cappers dont need any more of an advantage than they already have.
