I have started to see more and more "I need a ride!" requests.

I think if the Havoc was in-game it would quickly be used and become a regular thing.

There are a few maps where it would not make much sense (Crossfire, Sunstar) but on others I think it would be very beneficial.

It is something that PROMOTES teamwork. Organizing a transport is always a mess and teams really learn to think together to get it done.

I wish we had more teamwork-promoting things like laser sights, etc.

i agree it would be nice to have more teams work together.

I recently played an online tribes 2 match on tribes next, the map was fairly small and the flag stands were very close together. Yet the people still went into bombers and havoc's, why? Because it's fun and they both give some teamplay aspect that the shrike doesn't give you.

Also the commands made the vehicles load up very quickly.
Bomber ready, Need a ride?
Hold that vehicle I'm coming!
Vehicle all loaded up and ready for battle in a matter of 10 seconds.

Some maps really could use a havoc, some less for the transport but more for combat. Like drydock, it would be fairly useless for transport but very useful to clear juggernaut's spamming on the surrounding hills. I constantly feel tempted to do so a shrike but I constantly have to leave the fight to chase a capper. A bomber would be perfect to clear the mortar spamming fatties.

But flares really should be introduced, maybe in a way like you can pick up standard repair tools.

Well said, there are still alot of cool features from the old tribes games that can be added in the newer tribes ascend. Would just make the game better than it is.

You just said why we do need a havoc for these kind of things. Shrike is very unreliable for this, it's very fragile but makes up for this with speed. Although when you have people standing on your shrike you need to go pretty slow and you can't make serious manouvres. So a few sabers on your tail and you're dead.

deadly you are right we really do need the havoc for bombing runs
it is amazing how much it would make the game better.

One issue:

It's usually faster for a fatty to ski across the map to bombard the enemy stand than it is to pull a vehicle and get everybody gathered together.

But there's nothing on earth that compares to four fatties dropping at the same time on an enemy base.

True, but a fatty can't hover over the enemy base lobbing mortar rounds at their flag stand.

Sure, it can be fun, but with as gimped as HR always makes their vehicles its not very feasible. With such tiny teams you're not going to have that many heavies sitting in the air with mortars anyways.

And with as shoddy as the defenses and bases are you really don't need that many.
