Post In game tagging of tribes/clans
Call me old fashioned, but I want to see the tag of the team people play for, and I'd like it to not cost gold if possible.

Maybe we can make a feature for tagging that alters name as a suffix or prefix? That way a team can try out tags to see what will look good.

Tagging is an important part of the competitive social structure imo. It's like badges on a general. "This guy is good enough to be part of team *".

Been requested many many times and it was promised to be included in beta...

Every week I hope to see this function. Im still worried about lag of teams in europe. Pubs are full of players. More than there were back in T2 but we have what 7-9 7vs7 teams...

Fuctions like this would courage ppl to join up teams.

Doubt it. People play in teams because of teamplay/community etc. Not because of few random letters in front of their name. But yeah, I'm also waiting for this, I really want to put [CC] in front of my name.

As the only guy in my clan that visits these forums, I get asked this question all the time. Clan Tags are important to us. It comes up right after "When are they going to nerf the Autos?", if not before.

Clan support was a major part of T2. With it came unique tags so if [CC] was taken, then you'd be SOL. Also you would get your own chat room that allowed you to follow people to a server without the current friend system. So you could come into a room, challenge the clan to a scrim and just click a link to get there. There was also a small web page (basically a mission statement & logo) that you could put up with options to apply to join and e-mail as well.

It is pretty silly not to have this from jump. How hard can it be to make this if it was flawlessly executed so many years ago?

They need a Clan community function first.

You can't just have folks adding it themselves. A clan needs a leader account, a roster and a way to lock their tag from anywhere else.

I agree that should have been implemented long ago but it's not super easy to implement. They need a solid framework to start with.

Absolutely. This is just simple admin gui stuff. Nothing no where near as complicated as game play coding. I couldn't even comprehend something like this taking more than a few weeks to do. Hi-Rez has it's reasons, but I'll bet it's stupid. Probably trying to figure out how they can make a nickel out of it.

You need:
A Clan table. Make Clan name and Tag columns a unique column type. No duplicates allowed.
A Roster table keyed to the Clan table and the existing players table.
Plus some other tables like ranks/roles and othe supporting tables.

As a database application developer, I'm telling you this is pretty simple stuff. Especially for guys who are at the game code programmer level of expertise. This should have been done back in November.

Or simply hook into Steam apis where they have their own clan management system.

Game would do so great on steam... arg...
