I've pretty much come to the conclusion that this game shouldn't be called tribes. It's a disgrace on any of its predecessors. They've tossed out all of the stuff we thought was fun about the game and replaced it with tons of bullets, stupid physics, and pointless vehicles (besides shrikes which are flying trolls).

I'll try to spread the word to steer clear of this title.

Thanks Hi-rez for ruining our hopes.

:lol: it's CTF Blackhole I think that was Houston Vehicles possibly Miami Vehicles... used to be shedloads of players on those servers (64? I forget.. a lot anyway)

Map was actually quite poor, just massive amounts of heavies but the sheer sensation of pandemonium and destruction going on was something to behold.

Also about the mortar arc in T2, most of those shots were "low arc" you could actually fire quite high up and still get reasonable range. This is due to the speed/gravity of the shells being different - better in my opinion. I wish Ascend mortars behaved the same way.



Even though it was disproved there is a parachute to Ascend mortar, it still feels that way to me but not for the T2 mortar...

Just to be clear, the only differences between the T:A mortar and the T2C mortar are muzzle velocity and gravity. The T:A mortar has 73.78m/s muzzle velocity and 17.36m/s² gravity, while the T2C mortar has 75.95m/s muzzle velocity and 14.795m/s² gravity.

I wouldn't go that far. The game has plenty of potential and is fun at times.
It has some serious problems in the physics department, hence this and many other threads.
Fix the physics and you fix the game, is one of the threads, and I stand behind this claim (mainly because everything else could be disabled in custom servers, as strikes and plasma have been in competition already).

We ran 80 the majority of the time, 64 in the very begining. And 84 towards the latter half of the games peak.

Chaos and pure fun.

Just some reminders:

- Bullets still have 0 inheritance, requiring ridiculous lead when skiing alongside someone (such as a flag carrier!)

- Jetpacks still have a (very poorly implemented) speed cap in the vertical dimension. You can't use it to accelerate faster than 72km/h vertically, and worse, you can't use it to slow a fall of more than 72km/h. In fact, it doesn't even fully cancel gravity, so you still accelerate downward at about 1km/h/s!

- Air control still behaves like some sort of bizarre hang glider or airplane. When going over 72km/h, pull back for more height!

- The ability to steer while skiing still turns on and off like a switch depending on your speed. Some degree of air control persists at all speeds. When going fast, bunny hop to be able to steer!

- Speaking of bunny hopping, jump is still not perpendicular to the terrain, but always upward. Does virtually nothing while skiing up a hill, and completely redirects your velocity if you jump while skiing down a hill.

- Certain collisions redirect velocity with no loss of speed or health. See: rock routes on Crossfire.

The physics in this game are completely arcane and inconsistent. Why has none of this been addressed? Fix these things, and your newbies will not know the difference, but your better players will thank you profusely.

The leading on bullets isn't that ridiculous. You have tracers to guide. Don't get me wrong, I'd be fine with 100% across the board, but it not as important as everything else in the OP.

Until you try true inheritance and realize how much better and more instinctive it is (possibly after an hour of unlearning wacky inheritance). Especially for weapons without a stream of tracers.
