Post Doombringer needs a different name
Before anyone has a go at me, I should point out that the Doombringer is my favourite class. In a game that's primarily about speed, I love that he's this hulking mass that is most effective when stood still, waiting for unsuspecting folk to stumble upon him. I love that he's extremely defensive, that when you're attacking a flag and one is standing in your way, you're going to have a tough fine - especially if you try to avoid him and hit his drop shield instead.

But therein lies an issue - he's called a Doombringer, but he's not exactly bringing doom, is he? He's more....letting doom come to him and then messing it up. A doom inverser, if you will. But that doesn't sound nearly as catchy.

There are plenty of other classes that can be seen as bringers of doom - the Juggernaught, the Brute, even the infiltrator has brought much doom and gloom in his time, but the Doombringer? If one of them starts trundling towards your base, assuming he can avoid the turrets that he can't actually damage with his main weapon, you can run circles around him before he gets close enough to do anything.

Not bringing very much there, is he?

Is this a copy/paste? I feel like I've read this EXACT topic for, down to the word....

To answer your topic, though. I'm thinking "superchunky" as a replacement name

Don't think so, though I have expressed the same sentiment with very similar wording in the past.

Alternate proposed names from past threads: rook, guardian, huscarl, verangian, praetorian, aegis, escutcheon, fortress, scutum...

All would be better than "doombringer". Even if it fit the class (it doesn't), it's a little... WH40k for me.

Its all down to the chaingun. That thing is very deadly and almost inescapable if used properly. Thats what brings the doom. And I'm pretty sure this was the original intention of the name.

Keep in mind the Class with the Mortar was always going to be called a JUG, cos that what the JUG has.

Also IMO a doombriner with a bolt launcher is not really a doombringer. But yeah, its aname man..

Good point, I propose renaming him to "Jim".

I seem to bring the doom alot more with the BRT than the DMB... maybe it should be named Guardian? I want the Raider to be renamed noobskin.. ;P

Though it lacks gravitas, I like "anvil". I'd play it.

More like "super crunchy" because Dooms are CoA (Center of Attentions) when it comes to HoF EVERYONE who visits your base takes a pot shot at them... or their force field... they are actually "punching bag", or "Heavy target"... Try a Doom once, and you will come up with different name than "Doom Bringer" for this class.. because he/she DOES NOT BRING DOOM! DOOM COMES TO HIM!! more like "DOOM SUCKER", or "DOOM MAGNET"... and yes, they too.. need some love, next update? DBR upgrade?
