Post Hacker Report System/First person spectator
Please give us a hacker report system and a First person spectator mode (so we can put hackers on youtube!)

To be honest I love this game and I love killing aimbotters, but it's just so annoying not having solid proof or being able to get rid of them.

You can report cheaters by typing this in console /report player reason.
About first person spectator, it probably won't be implemented anytime soon because Unreal Engine 3 doesn't support it by default.

What makes people so sure others are cheating in this game? I mean, have you seen old Tribes skill montages?

PS: Nobody's accused me of cheating in this game yet, which makes me sad.

1st person spectator mode would be a huge step toward identifying hackers. Im a little surprised Hi-Rez hasnt implemented this already. Nearly every match I played in yesterday had an aimbotter. Using the current spectator mode, it was a little obvious. Had it been first person mode...it would have been undeniable proof. Considering the ease at which hacks are made for the unreal engine, Hi-Rez needs to take this seriously.

Who are we kidding...they're just going to delete this entire thread anyway.

People cheated in tribes as well. Happy mod was a common thing back in the day and aimbots were as well. It's not as common, but it still happens. I wouldn't be surprised if someone was hacking at this point in the game, too. It's widely known that sent is the best class for map control so why wouldn't certain people not exploit it for themselves?

Yeah first-person spectating would be good, except UE3 doesn't support it, I don't know if that makes it 100% impossible, but I don't think we will be seeing it, which is fine with me.
Are you sure that they were aimbotting? or just really good players, I have played 100ish hours so far and haven't come across a single hacker.
Just because there are hacks for Unreal Engine that are easy to make, doesn't mean that EVERY UE3 game is easy to hack.
From what I understand, Tribes: Ascend has some d*** good anti-cheat built into it, and is very, very hard to make hacks for...

Finally back after several months off

Old Tribes was different, that was people abusing the s*** out of the generous scripting, which was still one of my favorite parts of the game. Being able to fully customize your UI and enable awesome features like a constant on-screen Command Circuit, or an artificial horizon for your Shrike? Hell yes.

Hacking with the Sentinel is the most obvious choice but if that were the case I think I'd see more good Sentinels. Because right now, I see literally zero. There's an incredibly small chance that any game I play will even have one in the first place, and he will pretty much always be terrible. I'm not inclined to believe such a hack exists simply because I'd actually be able to remember the last time I saw a sentinel in a pub doing good.

This.

First person spectating is not possible in the game engine, which means neither is first-person CoD-style killcams.

The best this game can do is a pseudo-first-person spectate mode where the spectator's camera is simply embedded in the skull of the player they are spectating. It looks both cool and very weird, but doesn't give you a very reliable idea of exactly what the player is seeing or how he's aiming.

Wait, why are you still reading? It should be obvious that this signature is pointless and just here to be green.
Stop reading already! You're procrastinating too much!

that sucks...it would be so useful to have. not just for cheating concerns, but really just to see what people aim at, what they look at and when, etc. i guess the next best thing are watching player streams from good players.
