I know some of this has been mentioned, but I am struggling with this:

What exactly is the brutes role supposed to be? It is not defense because we would just use the DMB for that. Mines and force fields and turrets? Yes please. It is not offense because the Raider does everything the Brute does better and the Jug excels in every way the raider and Brute do not. I would say the Brute is good at surviving, but the shield pack (while not completely useless) is a joke given the amount of energy the brute has.

Am I just not playing the brute right? I am hopping on it lately going "what am I supposed to be doing other than creating a distraction with my timely death?" Whats more, this patch is just a huge "WTF" to me... there are some things I just don't understand like:

1) Why is the DMB getting a buff? The update to the HBL +7% dmg now at (1050 dmg direct and 750 splash) means that not only does the DMB now have an upper hand on me with the chain gun, but the HBL as well. Just in case I did not feel pitiful enough trying to go toe to toe with them in their base after getting shot at the entire way across the map now they have 2 weapons that rape me.

2) Did the Raider really need a buff? IE: A grenade that pretty much does exactly what the fractal used to? Not saying I think fractal should not have been nerfed but 1-3 dmg to a generator? fokkin come on.

3) The auto shotty - Who ACTUALLY uses this? I mean I suck with the pistol but this thing is still a joke even with my poor pistol hit rate.

Hey here is an idea: Since the DMB hoses the Brute at mid-long range with the chaingun already (and now has upper hand with HBL vs HSF) maybe the auto shotty should be able to really punish the DMB in close quarters since... oh i don't know... it is a SHOTGUN? What is Hi-Rez worried about? It means we have to sacrifice our pistol which leaves a lot of targets escaping without being able to pick them off via hitscan and it is not like we have a way to quickly close the gap and finish them.

The role of the brute is to be that class that everyone feels sorry for because they are awful at everything.

I don't have all the answers, but I think the Brute is intended to be a fractal delivery system for Flagstand disrupt. And a disk bomber on raised base assets, sheltered deployed equipment and covered flagstands. But is it that much better than the MKD on the Jugg for those duties?
He might be quite good on indoor gen Defense but it is hard to imagine him being better than Doomb/mines/ffs/catapult for that role.
If you can get in the enemy gen room with a friend, then he is ok/strong at setting up camp because the disk does do good damage, and the shield pack does absorb hits from one opponent pretty well.

I thought he was for breaking hard doomb turtles with ffs, but it's pretty hard to get past the mines with the slow disk to then drop your fractal payload before dying, and you get totally shut down by emp mines since you spend your shot on the mine, the enemy is right there, or you spend your shot on the enemy and the mine nukes your shield pack.
The shotty should be pretty reliable damage on a fatty but it seems to whiff a lot, maybe im just bad with it.

He's been buffed twice already too, good buffs on runspeed and disk traverse. The pistols been buffed as well, but the 6 clip just seems bad. Needs a id Rage style Killburst mode.

That shield pack is not tuned right afaik, it has less energy pool, slower regen, faster deplete and absorbs merely the same amount of damage per energy as the raider pack. You would think it would be at least 33%-50% better than it is at absorbing damage.

Maybe the Buckler will be tuned to support Turtle Breaching...

Since Brute is my second most played class I would describe him as heavy soldier (fat soldier).
I use NovaColt/Energypack Quickdraw/Bountyhunter.

1st Role HO (Heavy offense)
Using my high mobility (for a heavy, you can travel at around 150) I try to get in the enemy base and cause havoc, clearing flag stand (fractals), destroying gens, kill returning flagcappers. Basically that guy that camps the base.

2nd Role HD (Heavy defense)
Here I travel between Flagstand and gen room helping were needed, mostly assissting HoF and techs, sometimes I hunt down bombarding juggernauts.

Short you are multipurpose like the soldier but more base oriented (since your outdoor qualities are lacking vs mobil classes). You might even switch between HO and HD in one game if needed.

You know, i've never tried a bike, but capping on most maps is very easy except for kata, it can be quite tricky on Kata.
