Not for the foreseeable future, the game is doing fine on it's own. :)

So... the game is doing fine, lets not get more people unless we really need it?

Steam is more players and more players is good for everyone.

I totally support this. Much easier to have all games under the same program!

because they take a percentage of micro transactions.

Here's what the most likely scenario is: Two-stage launch.

First, you let the game run on it's own merits. The metacritic scores have helped greatly with that, and the game stands on it's own well. Without steam dipping into microtransactions, the game is more profitable as a whole. However, at some point, it will be more profitable to gain more new players than save on the valve cut. At this point, the game will likely be released on steam. I can't speculate on when this will happen, as I'm not HR's marketing guy.

warning: mild maths:
Last I heard, steam takes around 10%, so if you imagine 100 people a day buying 10 dollars worth of in game product, that's 1,000 a day on it's own legs. However, if your numbers start to slip, and you start getting only 50 people a day buying the same amount, that's only 500 dollars a day. Now, put it back on steam to get the 100 people back (though from the statistics i've seen, it would be closer to getting 500 people in this model), count the 10 percent off, and you're making 900 dollars. this is a statistically significant boost in profits from where you were before, and if we take the optimistic side of the model, we have 5,000 dollars a day minus the 10% is 4500. All very impressive, and the icing on the cake is that this would cut costs in advertisement.

However, money isn't the only concern. A game on steam needs to be a little more polished before being completely effective, and releasing a game on steam that has fundamental flaws would only serve to alienate potential future customers, damage reputation, and hurt long term profitability. There is also the question of the massive stress a large influx of players would have on the servers, something which should also be considered.

I can haz job?
