It's hard to gauge the feel and fit of a weapon just by watching videos of it. I think it would be a wise move for HiRez to allow for testing of locked weapons in the training maps, because of people like me (cautious buyers who will just not spend money on something they can't try) but also because of impulse buyers who may end up getting buyer's remorse upon finding out they don't like a weapon as much as they expect. Plenty of snipers on this forum expressed their dismay to find out how the phase rifle played out (mainly casuals, as obviously the phase rifle has its place with skilled snipers) - people who are dissatisfied with a purchase will be less likely to make purchases in the future. Being able to try before you buy will alleviate this. On a semi-related note, another problem that might lead to dissatisfied purchases is nerfing of weapons after they are released. Is there any plan to do real-world playtesting of weapons prior to them being released to ensure that they are reasonably balanced? No because HiRez wants you to spend money, if you dont like the item, its your problem, so you'll have to spend more money to try out another item if you dont like the previous one. I could see it could be a pretty good way for people to try out new wepons/packs, then have their hearts ripped out as they go away. As they weep in sorrow for their lost loved one... they decide to buy it back... forever this time. They at first thought it was a great idea to rotate out classes, but I guess it felt too advantageous for it since there is only 6 classes, and alot of them are needed for teamwork. They could at least take it off the tooltips on loading screens if they're so dead set on making sure you can never test something out.

The only reason I can think of them NOT doing this is that they think people will try out some weapons and decide that they don't like them so they end up not buying them, when there is the chance that they would have bought them if they went in blind. IMO this is just going to generate buyer's remorse and result in less purchases overall, but it's up to them to decide what will be most profitable I suppose.

Anyways, ever happened to the idea of rotating things around like LoL?

Not even the base classes anymore. They could at least take it off the tooltips on loading screens if they're so dead set on making sure you can never test something out.

Hmmm that is too bad if that is the case. C'mon, HiRez, if you're gonna price your weapons at around $7-$10 dollars USD, we need either a way to try-before-you-buy or a return-policy. I'm not OK with "on faith" purchases unless you drop those prices to 1/4th or so.
