Yes yes and yes. When they told me to run a few things and attach the logs to an email they couldn't find anything obvious and didn't know what was wrong.

So it only freezes when you try to join a game, can you get into the training maps and play without issue?

No, not training maps either. And it seems everyone else with this problem also says it works right after they restart their computer for like one game. The same still freezes, but it unfreezes in like a minute, as opposed to freezing and then unfreezing putting you back at a menu screen without a menu.

It honestly sounds like a video driver related issue. The engine acts like it cant find some file or cant render whats needed. Do you hear audio? Oh and can you try running task manager with it on top of the tribes game and see if the performance tab peaks and holds at 100%?

No sound. Doubt it's a driver issue, i've updated and rolled back. There's no sound and nothing peaks at 100.

Sorry for the late response, it should be there from what im told...


The link still gives an error message saying that the answer is no longer available, atleast for me it does. All the links that I have found that go to the last resort uninstaller give the same result. I could use the uninstaller right now, my T:A has busted and just needs to be reinstalled at this point really. (The uninstaller application from Hi-rez is busted too, infact everything hi-rez just crashes just after I click to start it up.)

Trying to install tribes, I get the following error

"failed to start the hi-rez studios authenticate and update service"


Tried to solve it by ending the installation process before the error so it doesn't delete the files it has already installed. When I try to launch the game it directs me to the diagnostics tool. When I try to run the diagnostic tool I get the error "The Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service will not start on this machine", assumingly because the installed failed to install it.

Done most basic stuff like turned off firewall and antivirus, restarted computer, unistalled and reinstalled many times.

Also done the Services.msc thing. When the installer tries to run the authenticate service it goes to starting, but the error message comes before it starts. If I try to start it up again a message pops up and says it automatically closed down because "some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs"

So. Any solution to this problem?

Hello, I'll make this long story short:

Was playing Tribes when suddenly file errors, have to reinstall.

After uninstall, try to reinstall, get this error:

regedit and delete ALL entries searched for "Tribes" "Ascend" "Hi-Rez" and "Hi-Command"
double check Remove Programs list, nothing listed related to Tribes.
Restart comp

Get same error.

open elevated command prompt, type "SC DELETE HiPatchService"
Restart computer
Same error.

I am completely out of options here cant find any more info on google...please help, I miss the game.
