Post 2 NEW MAPS
HI I'm the unreal tournament / UT2K4 veteran .

I think the map Facing Worlds from unreal tournament is perfect for tribes ascend . Simply remade it and change the name so no one will sue Hi REZ studio .

The second map is the deck 16 . This map is perfect for tdm full indoor map .

Their incarnation of TDM is too large and hectic for these maps, they would be more suited for arena style gameplay.

(Arena had tons of successful indoor maps, AUTH, ARC, ASWP, etc.)

But tribes is about skiing and jetpacks. UT (especially facing worlds and deck 16) is about flak cannons and shock combos with a fair bit of sniping on the side. I don't really see how taking those two maps is going to do anything positive for T:A. =/

It won't, but can I just say that you just brought back HUGE memories of sniping in Facing Worlds??? A LITTLE bit of sniping on the side? Are you lucid? I challenge you to come get my flag if I'm on the tower.

God I loved that map!!

But you are right. The ability to import Unreal maps is a good perk in that it would allow us to get the "FOUNDATIONS" of maps (or at least the concepts) in to TA quickly. HOWEVER, the game mechanics of TA are VASTLY different than Unreal (or many other games for that matter). Our weapons have a different balance, and our character and environmental hit-point is quite a bit different.

There are no head-shots in TA, and there are no single shot close-range weapons. Also, TA covers more distance with an emphasis on skiing to make up for the travel time (which is bogus that that is a packaged function, but oh well, we were all going to figure out how to do it anyway).

I can not think of a single Unreal system map that would be a truly good fit in TA un-modified (in a BIG way) when taking in to account all of the nuances of the game. That's not to say that they aren't GREAT maps, they are just not suitable for this game without HEAVY modification. And even then... maybe.

If you look at the idea in this post, however, maybe then you could port the map(s) and see what the masses think.
