You're right, I forgot about that.

So at 30 I immediately go and buy all blue armor and then get to work on obtaining purple. Sheesh. Hope I have enough credits. I'm 26 right now and I think I only have like 30k credits.

You can start using blue armor at level 20. If you get full blue armor, it's not as worth it to spend all of your tokens on epic armor right away. Full blue armor with full blue mods is probably a lot more than most people are running unfortunately. If I were a new player I'd probably do things in this order right now:

1. Get a full set of blue armor, I'd start working on buying them right away even before I was level 20. (they cost credits now)
2. As soon as I had full blue armor I'd start buying blue mods for each of them.
3. Use tokens for primary weapons, things that I'd be using 90% of the time in every match (BFB, focus arm, IC, SMG, PT, etc). While saving up my money/mats for epic mods
4. After primary weapons are bought start working on epic armor.

You'd probably get some armor drops between steps 2-4, but it won't be worth it to equip that armor unless it has better stats than your current armor (nbb is not better than nr) AND until you put a mod on it.

so if I get epic armor that has 3 stat improvements on it, then I can add an epic mod to it for a total of 6 stat upgrades?

You can add an epic mod to any armor, but you should wait until you get epic yes. And you should wait until you get an epic that has good stats (as few b's and m's as possible)

between n's and r's, is one more desireable than the other? I've just been crafting green armor padding to mod all my armor with.

I tried to whisper Canucck with his offer yesterday, but it seems he was busy and ignored me </3

It was all a front to harass him for information as to what I should look for on gear anyways, so I'll just pay attention to this thread and hope he replies to the above poster :)

It pretty much works out to be the same for the most part. The only thing with health mods is the more health you have to begin with, the more health they give you (since it's a %). So tank assaults gain a lot more HP from health mods than recons for example. Tank assaults also spend a lot of time on the point, and people love the spam AOE on the point - ranged prot obviously won't help you with that.

The other thing you have to take into account is healing. Even though the difference in damage you take is minimal between health and ranged prot, it's a lot faster to get healed back to full hp if you have protections stacked rather than health. For example is you're a robo your medcrate becomes a lot more effective when you have a lot of protection rather than a lot of HP, since it always heals for the same amount regardless. It's also part of the reason why most medics use ranged prot instead of health, because their self-healing from the BFB is a lot more effective that way.

It all depends on how you play

So as I main robo I should then look for ranged/health, yes? If they come close enough to me then I got my mace and shield for melee, and i can run around and use health tower to negate aoe?

yes. Personally on my robo I put all health mods on my armor, then I take all protection talents in the skill tree. I don't really have much logic to backup why I do this, but it leaves me with a reasonable amount of HP and I still have a lot of protection. A lot of people with robo mains put ranged prot mods on their armor though because of snipers. Either way is fine
