I got the .Net error box, but the game would launch and play fine, so I could ignore it or close it. I tried everything on this, but it didn't fix it. Then just yesterday (July 13th), it suddenly stopped popping up. I don't think I changed anything, and unless there was a very minor patch I don't think anything changed on the Smite side.

The thing that did it for me was going to configuration screen> software and uninstalling every bit of .net framework I could find in the list. You'll have to do it in reverse order, so from 3.5-3.0-2.0 etc. You'll get a lot of prompts in the proces. Some services will have to be shut down and after you are done uninstalling some programs won't work anymore (like ATI catalyst control center). Don't panic though, all will be well! After the reboot visit the Microsoft update page (update.microsoft.com I believe). It might require you to first get the microsoft genuine advantage update. There from the optional updates select the 3.5 .NET framework one. Update it! From here your windows auto update should pick up (you know, the little yellow shield icon on the bottom right of your taskbar). You'll sit trough a couple of updates and reboot sessions, but after that you should be good to go again! Now the reason for doing it firstly through update.microsoft.com and not all through auto-update is because in my case auto-update got stuck on a 2.0 .NET framework update that wouldn't install. This was all on windows xp Media center edition btw. I hope this will help some of you experiencing the same issue and just wanting to play another game of SMITE! Good luck! P.S. You might have to run the diagnostic utility first after all this and rerun the prerequisites!

Somehow after a couple of days I am again unable to play the game due to this issue. Can we expect any updates on this issue? It seems to me that there's not much else we can do from the players side of things. Will HiRezstudios take responsibility for this instead of shifting it to Microsoft and their .NET framework?

I agree with this. Ive had this error for 6 days now. and this fix doesnt work for many of us. So please take responsibility and fix your installer.

This happens after around 20 seconds into a game then I get booted out of the game with the authentication failing. Then lastly i tryed to do all of the above things, delete .NET frameworks from my pc, deleting Hi-Rez and then reinstalling it all again, and now 4-5 hours later still no progress, i can still only play for 20 seconds before "this game isnt probably authenticated" pops up and I come back to my desktop. It happens even if i dont go into a game, also just if i am in the lobby. So what can I do? I know it is beta and all, but this happen from last night until today, so did a patch come ? or what have changed, because it seams to be something on your end not mine, since it worked the last couple of days, without any problems? any help is appressiated sorry for my far from perfect english, i hope you can understand it.

After experiencing the same issue I can now again play the game!

The thing that did it for me was going to configuration screen> software and uninstalling every bit of .net framework I could find in the list. So I have now tryed a few things.
