Tournament Prizes

1st: 1500 Gems
2nd: 800 Gems
3rd: 400 Gems

Tournament Information

This will be an elimination tournament in the joust game mode. A draw card will be made at random and players will be placed in matches. You will need to win your match to advance to the next level of the tournament. Losing prior to the semi-finals will result in you being eliminated from the tournament. The winners of the semi-finals will fight out for 1st and 2nd place prizes. The losers of the semi-finals will fight out for the 3rd place prize.

This tournament will have no level requirement, so everyone is welcome to enter as long as they are available at the time of the tournament. If you decide to enter the tournament and are not available at the time to compete, you will automatically forfeit your match and be eliminated from the tournament.

A god will be selected from the free rotation by the tournament organiser prior to the tournament starting. All participants in the tournament will be completely limited to playing this god for the tournament. This ensures that all fights are equal, based on skill and not on an imbalance of specific gods.

Tournament Date

The tournament will be taking place on 9th March at approximately 7:30PM EST. We will be accepting participants up to an hour before the tournament takes place.

This sounds pretty boring, playing mirror matchups with the same god all the way. Why not let people pick themselves from the free rotation? Or if you absolutely love mirror matchups at least change the god for every new round.

I will be changing the god each round of the tournament. I want to keep mirrored match ups though. Gods are balanced for 1v1, so it's pretty unfair if people choose a god that is better for the match than their opponent.

This tournament is only a few days away, I am extremely stoked with the reception it has been given. Over 30 people have signed up to be apart of it and I honestly couldn't be happier.

Bigger tournament will be announced over at Smite Forums so make sure you head over and create an account to keep up to date with everything.

The god selection is a weird idea, but the prize is nice enough that people shouldn't really care. I'm interested for the hell of it, heck I'll even record my matches good or bad just because it's something interesting. Whether I'll be online to actually play is the problem.

This guy's putting up gems for an interesting idea. He can make the rules whatever he wants, players just have to adapt and give it a shot. The only thing players are putting in is time to play the matches, they aren't putting any money down. If someone doesn't like the rules, they don't have to play; simple as that.

In the end it is a bit luck of the draw, certain players are good with certain gods. Mirror match just shows who has greater skill at a specific god and at counter building. It doesn't really show overall skill, but eh this could be fun and interesting none the less.

I am also completely open to suggestions for the next batch of tournaments. As LostScarf also mentioned, I am putting up gems out of my own pocket to help promote the competitive scene. I'm not asking for anything from the players other than to have fun and enjoy their time playing. If you have some better ideas on how to run the tournament though, I am all ears.
