WTF is going on with the Raindance Flagstand???

I kept seeing this crap where people were LAUNCHING straight up while smacking right into the front Archway on it and I just assumed they were exploiting some kind of Spin-Jumping mechanic to intentionally launch themselves that way but then it happened to me when all I was doing was gently floating back to the stand to guard it. It wasn't just a small increase in upward velocity either...

Not making this up, here's exactly what the stats say happened when I accidentally hit that little piece of weird geometry

That's just the Pinball mod they re-added to T:A. Working as intended.

I just realized why Hi-Rez chose Tribes for its second money grab

Tribes as we know it was founded on a bug
Hi-Rez releases buggy flawed F2P games, grabs what they can, then moves on to the next game
Instead of the game dying due to being terrible, like GA, the Tribes community fights itself over if these flaws are actually good things are not

its the perfect crime.

This is painfully correct. Take rock bouncing as an example.

A bug on Raindance flagstand is definitely map feedback. Hope it will be fixed soon!

I thought removing/highly nerfing rock-bounces in one of last patches was done as a side effect of general fixing bugs like this one.

edit: that was accelerate patch:

Quote:
Fixed an issue that was allowing players to flat impact walls at high speed, and instantly move 180 degrees in the opposite direction with no speed loss or damage taken. This allowed for some game breaking front-to-front routes, and created a number of other gameplay related issues.

This fix will have a heavy effect on rock-bouncing, a skill and strategy emerging from competitive games. We built in some tolerances to this fix that allow free bouncing at certain angles, and bleed less speed depending on the angle of impact. We will continue to adjust as needed. Rock bouncing is a feature we love, but the bug needed to be fixed for other extreme cases that were not to the benefit of the game.

We haven't had a repro case for that so if someone could post a video of it so we can pinpoint the problem that would be great! We've made several changes to the collision changes to the meshes that make up the flag stand, so if the bug is still happening then it must be something else. I would really appreciate it if someone could upload a video of them consistently running in to this bug.

The side walls of the flag stand in Raindance can become transparent and allow you to look inside the room if you are standing adjacent to it. I have attached the screenshot.

Similar thing happens in crossfire too (didn't want to post another reply for the same topic). In Crossfire, standing on the nose of the ship and looking through the windshield literally allows you to see inside the ship (not sure if intended)

Happens to me all the time. Will get some video tonight.

On a related note regarding this bug, when you do end up going stupidly fast, it glitches out your profile in an amusing way. I once got shot into the air at 1100+ on Raindance, and now my badge screen looks like this:
