I kind of like the idea of a tunnel from the door/room area of the flagstand tower.
A straight drop down, then angled to the Gen room.
I would slightly widen the whole of the flag tower, room and exterior decking.
A brave capper could grab and drop into the gens,
or a defending Heavy (example) could lob a Mortar down the shaft from the outside.

The new entrance just shows how extremely poorly suited the front entrance is for T:A. In a game of mirvs and fractals, a tiny crack into a straight vertical drop like that is pure suicide.

I doubt any developer ever sees this post, but the recent addition of a rear entrance to the Rainance map is a disaster. Hi-Rez took a perfectly good and personal favorite legacy map and adulterated it from top to bottom. I've been a Tribes player for 14 years and this is unacceptable.

I used to look forward to other legacy maps like Scarabre and Broadside, but not anymore. It appears that Stonehenge has remained unaltered, but I wonder how long that will last. Thanks for the romp down memory lane, but Tribes: Ascend has decayed into a modern day failure for us Tribes vets.

You're aware that Ascend is a different game with different mechanics, right? Straight up ports might not always work.

Ascend has weak shields and strong HP regen, that's why it was the previous incarnation that was unacceptable.

Yeah, new entrance should be a short tunnel/arch. It CAN be defended with two forcefields and light turrets, however, so it's still an improvement.

Easy fix: make that entrance a short upslope, so you can't launch MIRVs from the back of the map.

Us Tribes Vets? Speak for yourself my friend. The change is only the first and will likely be tweaked more and in this case its for the better. I was sick of god d*** stand offs all the time with people hiding in the gen room with the lead, this fixes that.

Most reasonble scrims had to play "flags outside" on RD just because turtling was such an issue. People hated playing IceRidge for the exact same reason.

I always wondered why the map designers didn't make the midfield tower entrances face away from each other in SnowBlind. That would've solved the mortar/spam issue that made so many people hate that map.

Show some integrity towards the IP and get Raindance back to the way it should be.
