FleurDeLis, can you please just go with your pessimistic and totally negative answers.

I absolutely agree with this.

And now thanks to the "Staying Alive" update kamikaze fractal spammers are a constant problem. It's amazing to me with all of the bitching about autos how few people say anything about Survival Pack + Fractals.

And what's worse, fractal spamming is well-rewarded. Last night I played a match on Crossfire where the two top scorers on the enemy team were literally doing not one single thing but kamikaze fractal spamming the entire match. But at least they weren't using autos!

Personally, I'm done with Crossfire. When it comes up in rotation I switch servers or call it a night.

I love Crossfire, easily one of my favorite CTF maps.

I love generator attack, and this map provides me with an outlet of destruction. Or, I can harass the flag stand and clear it out for some flag grabbers.

Tank warfare is hilarious on this map too, until you get those DMB's whose only job is to shoot you down (or attempt to, at least).

My only complaint about the map is the conduit; it's awkwardly placed so you have to know how to jet up into the gen room. I would propose another passage from the inventory stations (on the flag stand) to the gen room.

Adapt or die like a noob. If you really keep dieing of fractals it means you keep doing the same thing over and over again. Fractral "spamming" (you can only have 3 at once lol) is well rewarded because people like you are totally unaware of your environments and you just walk blindly into anything. Should maps get removed for people like you and FleurDeLis ... No.

If anything the map does wrong is the way it gives snipers too much view over the map.

Um...great comment except for the part that was wrong, which was all of it.

I wasn't talking about myself getting killed over and over by the kamikaze fractal-spamming Brutes, nor did I say that, but somehow that's what you read. How, I don't know. That's not even selective reading, that's just making stuff up that isn't there. Reading like a noob

However, it's a problem. As I said, there's something ridiculously wrong with the game when the two top scorers do not one single thing all game except spawn Brute, ski to enemy base, kamikaze fractal spam, and press K over and over again. There's something wrong when this kind of "playing" is rewarded with top-honors, and even encouraged with a Survival Pack.

Now go back to calling me a noob for something else I didn't say..."People like you" need to learn to read and are "totally unaware" of the contents of the thread on which they are commenting. Moron.

Hoho the comeback. Seems weird to complain about something that isn't even happening you but to your teammates. I can only conclude that your complaining about fractrals is because you keep dieing to them. Really you'll have to come up with something better than that.

I haven't changed my opinion, if people don't bother to listen or just look where they are going but instead just walk into fractrals then lol. The only thing that is bad about it is that you can clear the flagstand way to easy with it but that's not a map design problem but a problem with the fractrals.

About these brutes topping the scoreboards, either your base was full of pathfinder teammates trying to defend or these brutes were doing a bit more than throwing fractrals and pressing K which seems very exaggerated. They probably would have been killing people with their spinfusors.

It's the brutes role after all. I must admit my highest kill counts have been on crossfire as a brute. It's because on that map the class can finally be useful and it excels in enclosed spaces.

Complaining only of what happens to oneself is in itself highly suspect, by virtue of nigh-always being selfish and probably biased. One who can be objective ought to complain of cheap kills that he himself has inflicted or witnessed otherwise. People who whine because 'we lost because they used X, X is stupid and OP and bad, wah wah' are not always the ones to listen to when trying to balance the game.

I will add that I have not seen many successful 'charge into flag room as BRT, fractal-suicide-rinse-repeat' players, even though I spend as much of my time on that map as humanly possible in the enemy flag room (if playing Raider, at least). Offensive-oriented classes have a definite advantage on that map, but it is not insurmountable like it is on Drydock.

One man = 22 seconds of guaranteed no HoF.
You, sir, are an idiot.

This.

Also, I'd like to add this is mine, and my friend's least-favourite map. I find it terribly hard to play as a technician and repair the turrets. I used to find it difficult to defend the generator, then I started playing as a doombringer for defense on this map. I haven't personally had problems with brutes. Flag defense seems fine.

I don't like to play offense on this map because I find if the enemy team has a decent defense it's d*** near impossible to gain enough height to land on the ship as a medium or heavier. I know from experience that I rarely let the other team do it and when I do I quickly end them, I find scoring on this map as a doombringer easier than any other map (though I don't believe I've played doombringer on every map).

Ultimately the reason I dislike this map is the horrendously slow gameplay. What happens many matches is each team grabs the flag, then with good enough defense, each team keeps the flag for sometimes upwards to 10mins or more. As it's very easy to defend on this map (especially because newer or inexperienced players are easily ended by rockets), this poses the problem of the map gets boring fast. The games seem to go on forever or end very quickly, there doesn't seem to be much of an "in-between" on this map.

From my friends who don't play Tribes but watch tournaments, they even find the map boring. Makes me wonder how it's on the NASL tournament playlist, I guess there's enough demand for it. After all, I'm only talking about one demographic.

It's good if I want to make food or eat something but I don't want to stop playing Tribes. I'll be a doombringer, setup a couple force-fields around the generator then try to rocket people or get them with my bolt-launcher. It's good because I can still get an okay score (usually between 4th and 7th, only higher if there's a couple people determined to take the generator down), with minimal effort.

Dry Dock is my favourite, I find it very exciting. I think Stonehenge is WAY broken, I can camp as a brute around the generator room and come in first every single game with 3-4x the score of whoever is in second for score (fractal + gladiator).

Easiest fix to this map would be delete the two floating platforms behind each base and have those people spawn on the hills behind instead. It is much too easy for snipers and doombringers to camp from spawn with a view of the entire map. Attackers unfairly have to fly up a hundred meters to reach them, in the process draining all energy and revealing themselves.

What I have to do is use a shrike to constantly dive bomb them but then I feel bad for spawn killing innocent people who are near the campers.
