Look, if you want to have a pinball-bumper-style gameplay element, that's one thing, but the old rock-craziness absolutely cannot be it.

They make no logical sense, neither from a realistic nor game-world perspective, they fit into no cohesive set of rules or indicators (unlike half-pipe constructions) and their very nature is prone to asymmetrical map issues and unreliable future behavior.

And that's not even getting into why that type of gameplay-element is a bad idea.

Does everything have to make sense in a gameworld? I'd rather have a virtual world where you can try different things and get some unexpected and interesting outcomes that stand in contrast with our everyday experiences.

Yes it does. Either gameplay-wise (thing is fun and balanced), or common-sense-wise. For me, rock bouncing doesn make sense in either of those categories. It gives cappers another tool while people who ski 'properly' on ground get damaged while colliding with terrain at same angle and speed, and also loose most of their speed.

I'd rather have a virtual world when everyone is treated equal, and same rules apply to everyone. Not some patchwork of different physics for different players in basically same situation.

shortbus kids like this are the ones who oppose bounce physics

because expecting fair, balanced and consistent (and follow common sense) gameplay is bad?

because acting like everyone doesn't have to abide by the same physics in this game is just wrong and plain stupid. Much like you talking about common sense in a game about space marines floating around in jetpacks with anti gravity boots shooting nuclear powered plasma discs.

Every class was affected by the same physics, as mentioned earlier in the thread, you could even bounce with heavies.
Cappers could use something to dodge sniper fire with. Now there's nothing anymore.

You miss my point. I can't bounce without loosing speed or health off terrain if i missjump and land 2m in front of hill peak. i don;t see why someone else should be able to bounce off anything with dame angle of attack and speed as me. It's inconsistent and unfair. Situation when 1 player is punished while other is rewarded, both by doing same thing, is wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Ran out of arguments? Kids like this always run into insults when they can't find any argument to support their thesis.

Nevertheless, let me respond using arguments:
1) you have no basis for your judgment of my supposed age.
2) you are yet to indicate, what possible connection could there be between ones age and his/her view on the matter discussed
3) what is shortbus? my English dictionary does not contain such word.

First, every class may be effected by the same physics, but only light classes can truly take advantage of this. Any other class would be wasting there time (including SEN and INFs, meaning this is pretty much ONLY for Cappers, not even for chasers).

Someone that benefits a single class doesnt seem wrong?

Also, cappers do NOT need something to dodge sniper fire. Sniggers are the ONLY reliable way to stop cappers right now. because of tricks like this, Chasers is not a viable way to stop most cappers.

Tell me how you stop that 5 second return on Crossfire? Without a Sniper for bonus points.

It's just an inflammatory comment that has no meaning besides the fact that what you say is stupid. I don't wish to waste my time articulating my thoughts about this games issues as I have in the past as it it fruitless (many other top tier players think the same) because this forum is filled with absolute trash such as your belief that different classes/players have to abide by different physics.

American slang for the small schoolbus generally used for taking the developmentally retarded kids to school. So basically he said you're retarded.

But in actuallity, he's the moron for resorting to insults instead of debating the point.

I'm glad that rock routes are nerfed. Too much solo capping as it is in a team based game.

To whomever said he thought rock bouncing was intentional: No, it was an unexpected result of them fixing the bug where you'd stub your toe on some invisible rock that would kill your speed. That was straight from Hi-Rez. I believe it was mentioned in the Tribal Council.
