Ever used a route that required bouncing?

If you run into a rock at high speeds, you don't bounce. Bounce routes were an exploit, not a feature. Glad their gone.

>Rock bouncing creates powerful back to fronts on maps where they don't exist in a usable fashion (xfire back to front is perhaps the greatest example as it's not possible without bouncing, nigh impossible to see coming and has a nearly 5 second stand-to-stand return) and creates other quick return routes
>Said routes make SEN more required and chasing more of a bust
>a segment of the playerbase thinks they're "fair and balanced"

Maybe about as fair and balanced as Fox News.

In clearly broken scenarios the map should be tweaked then. You could remove the rock that enables the powerful back-front on Crossfire. Simple as that. Instead of entirely removing the possibility of bouncing off objects which is applicable in so many other scenarios.

It was fun to throw off chasers and snipers using tricky bounces as well, which required some skill.

fix the problem on one map, or remove rock bouncing everywhere and focus more on balance?

Seems like a no brainer.

ALL rock bounce routes just wouldnt be possible without the rock bounce (obviously) and considering rocks aren't made of rubber, anything but hitting a rock, losing momentum and taking damage just shouldnt happen.

EDIT: also, considering how hard chasing and sniping is, and how easy capping can be, cappers don't need more advantages.

They already can be almost unchaseable and require snipers to get the capper. And that is already too much.

hirez liked the idee that rockroutes brought into the game.
but i cant see how they woud agree on keeping them ingame.
we might see some intended reflexionwalls back in the further for new map to bounce of, shiny yellow reflexionpad with a reflectoricon on it, or somekind of less astetic broken information of the casual player "here use this wall/rock"

rockbounces trow the gameplay/asthetics of movement out of the window, like the bunnyhopping for increased speed of 350+ was till it got outpatched.

Wait, this game had bunny-hopping at some point? That's awesome. Bring it back too! Make it Quake style, balanced, yet powerful!

Nah, it was dumb. All it did was make those who did it untouchable and those who didn't useless. Once everyone figures it out it would just be needless extra inputs to go faster, which is pointless because everyone else would be faster too.

Well, if "bunny hopping" was implemented like it is in, say Quake 3 Arena, then it would be awesome. Especially indoors. Even more fast-paced gameplay. Right now the jumping doesn't even feel like jumping.

Or maybe a "Bouncer" perk which would allow all kinds of bouncing. Although that might end up being broken ;)

I do think that bounces <90 degrees shouldn't be as penalized as they are now and be reverted back to their old state.

Only if i can come crashing down from the sky at the ground, hit it with 89 deg. of attack angle and have my entire vertical speed converted into tangential to ground speed. Because both suggestions make about as much sense.
