HiRez would run a contest, like the one they have now for pictures and something else on the forums, except it would be map making. Using ANY SOFTWARE people could create maps and would submit them to HiRez via a thread in the forums. People could use paint, photoshop, modeling software, anything they want. They would have to provide screenshots of it and HiRez would have a list of things to take into consideration while making maps so we don't have tons of terrible maps made(hopefully). The top 5 or top 10 would be voted on by the community and HiRez would choose their favorite and maybe make it. This would just be the basis for the map and they would not copy it exactly, unless they wanted to. They could also have another Tribal Council and they would vote for their favorites, that way the map will most likely be good for comp also. Also, I want maps designed and chosen by skilled level designers, perhaps in cooperation with comp players, and not without extensive testing. At most, community contribution should be limited to brainstorming overall concepts (e.g. "something with giant trees and crashed ships" or "SCARABRAE REMAKE") or individual features (e.g. "indoor flag" or "multiple generators").

I think they should have Tribal Council meet with mapmakers, not necessarily HiRez ones, and make a general design of 5 maps.
