Variable, you have to spend an awful lot of time in here defending the Shrike for something you consider balanced.

How can you possibly even construe my recommendation as "hand of god". The shrike must merely touch a person and they die instantly and my suggestion that it take damage if it hits a person with a specific perk is somehow a superweapon? I wonder what percentage of the "Slayer" awards were earned in a Shrike. I would guess it's somewhere in the high 90's.

And once more my thread provides insight on how to keep both shrike players and cappers/players happy.

I'm in total agreement with you Cyanistic. Unfortunately, anything with even the slightest chance of reducing the Slayer awards for shrikes will make them unhappy.

I only know of one way to make everyone happy and that's simply not going to happen in a P4F game with no mods. Of course we all ended up arguing balance in the specific mod forums but at least it was easier to find balance when we had some control over the game.

Lol wut? I'm sure having shrikes take damage from runnin into superheavies would be advantageous to more than just the OP... And it also makes sense.

If you meant that people don't suggest nerfing what they use the most: I've been using doombringer exclusively for over 3 weeks now, and and having a ton of fun with it. Probably my favorite thing right now is shredding fools with the CG. That being said, I would like to see bullet weapons nerfed in some way, to be less dominant. It sure wouldn't be advantageous for me if it happened, but it would make the medium-high level games more balanced and fun.

Well you might be an exception, but I could swear all I see in this forum section so far is "I get killed too much by this weapon/vehicle that I never used myself and suck at anyway, so nerf it or make me invincible against it".

I myself, never use Shrike, i get killed by them often, but still, that's no reason for me to think they should be nerfed, they're part of the game and they fit perfectly as they are.

1) The shrike does have balance issues...but its with the superspeeds of the PF and non-kill rammed people not inheriting direction of the shrike.

Discs/bolts SHOULD push the vehicle around while doing some damage, but not 60-80% of the total health.

I would even be for trying a unified health/energy system like we had in the past...if we have a great deal more energy.

2) % of slayer awards? Seriously, awards are completely meaningless. Yes im sure most of the slayers are shriking, tanking, or sniping, but thats irreleveant to everything. It only means that the other team is completely ineffective....or i am not trying to make clutch plays.

Anyway, those awards are meaningless....they're just stat pr0n like baseball junkies.

No, the rewards are not meaningless. While they may be pointless to the player other than ego boosting, they represent statistics and are extremely useful in gauging the balance of the game. If kill streaks are consistently being carried out only by certain weapons then this would indicate a the possibility of a balance issue. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a stats page or system which allows you to view other people's stats or I would have already written tools to interface with it.

Its not any specific weapon. Its the role and the decisions that player makes...in conjuction with the relative skill of his opponents.

Have you seen a slayer in any match play?

How many cappers get slayer?

How many chasers get slayer?

You might see a raider or HO get slayer on offense...but its not because they are OP'd, its usually because that is a good player that knows what they're doing.

Some roles just give you more opportunities than others. Sniping for one. Shriking is another...they have range. Its just a part of the game. There is nothing to fix IN THIS AREA...except educating the players.

Shouldnt even need a perk for this. A shrike should take damage from any heavy armor at all. Mediums less so... And perhaps no damage from nailing the little guys.

A heavy armor is about a quarter the size of the shrike anyways, it should definitely take some damage from that impact.

as always you are free to use costum servers and ban anyone who uses shrikes for roadkills.
shrikes and vehicle in general are made for the average pubplayer that crashes 50% of all vehicles by accident anyway, dont expect any balance by publicruleset or competivruleset, build your own community. at least that has a better change for succes
