Post Why is deal of the day pricing randomised?
Wanted to draw attention to this again.

I like the idea of deal of the day, it's great, but what annoys me more is the fact that it creates this mindset where you know 'eventually' you will get 70-75% off for that item and that somebody else already is enjoying that discount, whereas you're stuck at 30-40%, which might be a great deal..but the disparity is big enough to annoy people who are genuinely interested in a bargain.

All it does is highlight how little value each item seems to have when you seem to not care whether you're charging 30% or 75% off of its value.

It would have been easier, more logical and more fair to simply allocate a general discount for each item based on its apparent value or on cycle or whatever, as long as everybody is paying the same price. I don't want to feel like i'm being cheated out of real money by a dice roll for absolutely no reason.

It's knowing that the system is fair that makes all the difference.

I'm sure there are a lot of you who simply don't care, and you're right it's not the biggest problem in the world. But what is the general opinion on it?

I'm pretty angry about it because it's not explained anywhere, and I got 25% off an item my first day. I wanted the item, and I assumed that Hi-Rez would have mentioned if the deal would change. So I bought it for the worst possible discount.

Everything should either have a fixed discount (50%, since it goes from 25% to 75%) or each price tier should have a fixed discount (e.g., 30% off 240g, 45% off 420g, 60% off 780g). The current pricing model is unfair, frustrating, and stupid.

agreed, this is pretty much the anti-thesis of making this an "impulse buy". The whole point of the deal of the day is tog get people to snap up that gun for gold because of a limited time deal.

But with the whole "the deal might be better next time around" thing we have now, I'm actually incentiveised NOT to buy the item unless it is at 60% or higher, even if it is an item I want.

i agree, i think the discounts should be harmonized, like 25% normally, and then on special occasions, do a sale.

It should also be Deal of the Week, because right now i could just wait a few days for a 75% deal. If i have most things unlocked it becomes even easier

I think HR wants to build some stats on what discount ranges are most effective for which types of items. They may get more buyers at 70% off, but more money in total from the 50% off sales. If they eventually standardize the rates, it will be at the statistically most profitable level.

I actually like it the way it is, I like looking forward to the next day to see if I will get 25% off or 75% off.
It's usually around 40%, and even that is quite a large discount.
Just be happy you are actually getting a discount, who cares what discounts other players are getting, you are still getting items for up to 75% off, just be appreciative.

(I know, something that you'd think would be obvious, yet so many people have trouble with it).
Finally back after several months off

I very much anticipated a response like this, and in a way you are right. But just because it is a step up from nothing doesn't mean we have to 'put up or shut up', that's not how things work.

I care what other people are getting because I dislike a system that assigns unfairness (and real money) to a dice roll, if you went to any other place and watched the guy in the queue in front of you save an additional 20-30% off his purchase, would you not feel shafted?

It is also deceitful towards people who do not know how the system works, and i've seen quite a few people get annoyed at it because of that.

Oh sorry, I probably came across as being a bit rude, I didn't intend to.
What I was trying to say is that people were complaining about prices being too high, then now that they can get up to 75% off various items they complain about getting discounts.
It seriously annoys me when people always have to find some little thing to complain about.
No matter what Hi-Rez does, players will always find someway to moan about trivial things, the DoTD system is fine (remember it is IMO).

Same with the loadouts, people were begging and begging for them, now they have arrived, and cost a measly 5000xp to unlock one, people have been complaining nonstop since then.

That's also true, but I think the difference between that concern and this is that people who argue for free loudouts feel they deserve more than they're being given. I don't want to be given more, I want the system to be standardised and the system to be more transparent so that it is more reliable and fair for everybody to use, if that means reducing the max discount, okay.

I will take reliability and fairness for everybody who is supporting tribes with actual money over a 1/1000 chance that the right item at the highest discount will benefit them.
