Orbital Defence System [ODS]


I think this has been suggested before, but I would like to further add to the idea of Orbital Defences.

Orbital Strikes can be a menace to alot of players and many of expressed their frustrations with the devastating call-in.

The Orbital Defence system would be powered by the base Gen and defend against Orbital and Tactical Strikes.

To prevent Gen camping. The Orbital Defence system is projected by various nodes around the base. These nodes can be destroyed, repaired and upgraded.

Upgrading the nodes will increase their health and their durability against call-in strikes.

The node "power" (health) will reduce with every Orbital and Tactical Strike. It is vital to keep them maintained.


Here is a rough mock-up of what the Orbital Defence system may look like in Arx Novena.

I have added six Nodes, but only four on each corner or two on the top towers could be required in a final version.

How it could work -

1. ODS is readily available at the beginning of the match.

or

2. ODS Nodes must be activated via "G" costing around 1000 points each. When all Nodes are activated, the ODS will power up. Your team and the enemy team will be notified of the activation.

"Orbital Defence System is online."

"The enemy have activated their Orbital Defence!"

I quite like this idea. Would you need all the nodes operational for the shield to function at all? Might make it easier to maintain if it was just one node.

It would be easier just to remove the Orbitals, most of the community hates them anyway. That probably won't ever happen so I guess I'll support this suggestion. I love the basic idea, but the nodes thingie doesn't look very practical.

I like the idea, I decided Orbitals were OP once I killed all of the players of the other team at once with it. It was devastating since the match was full.

I like the idea but they should be more expensive and their upgrades should scale with their level.

Each node should cover it's own area, otherwise maintaining all of them alive at the same time might be something quite impossible to do.
Should it stop mortar shots too (i hope not)? If not, it should be higher so that even someone flying too high would not go through the shield sprite.

Base XP = time played
BonusXP = [25%Base XP/rank] + [badges] + [25%Base XP if win]
Thus XP is only based on :
1.time played in the match
2.team choosed
3.position achieved in the team
Kills/accolades/credits/score mean nothing.
Found on the wikia and checked on many scorescreens.

But in regards to the OP, +1. Great idea, and I wouldn't mind it being in the game.
I doubt Hi-Rez will actually flat out remove strikes, even though most people dislike them.
And I'm not sure if they would add this to current maps, but I would love to see it in the future.

I would prefer they just remove the strikes.

But this would be a good alternative.

Nice mock up, but more than one node is a nuisance.

And nerf disc snipping for sure.
