+1

Been wanting this for a very long time. You can still keep the firing pattern while allowing us to keep the mouse button down.

+1. Hell, click-to-fire should be gone for every single gun, including pistols. Drop the maximum fire rate to compensate.

i'm basically forced to use a third-party-program like AutoHotKey to squeeze the highest possible damage out of this gun. It's a cheap and ugly solution to a problem that shouldn't even be there in the first place.

Yes, it's time to ban people who use autokey, or simply change the mechanic and give the LAR some recoil when you tapfire too fast.

ohai guise, i must use script to click mouse because I am that bad and I've grown tired of being king derp and getting easyed by people who can actually play fps like mister VGTA

plz to add new feature so i can ditch my scripts and pplz will think im naturally as good as Iz proclaims.

and sorry , no , it'd not be hard to tell if a specific program was running. please don't talk about things you obviously have no clue about, eg programming.

You can't ban people for having AHK running in the background because it might not be being used to affect the game, and there is no way to detect that.

Also with programmable mice it'd be impossible again, unless you used the hardware ID to just disable the mouse input for specific mice lol

Valve caved for a good reason, it's dumb to try and police so you should level the playing field.

Also people aren't going to be happy about your software scanning processes and banning them based on what it finds. Remember a little DRM utility called Starforce that would do that and block you if you had Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, and hell, just about any DVD burning software running? Yeah that worked well.

Even if you blocked AHK, you could just bind the fire commnads to a free-spinning mousewheel and simply flick it and get the same result.

Hold to Fire is design 101. There are so many other example of developers trying the click for each shot mechanic and people hating it. It is just s*** design.

If you hold down the first button pistols should fire full-auto. The sabre should auto-fire the second it goes red if you hold down the mouse button.

Anyone who thinks clicking the mouse as fast as they can is a 'skill' this game revolves around is brain damaged.

Punkbuster did it anyway. The situation is very similar to Torrents, where a legitimate use is vastly outweighed the illegitimate ones, except AHK can be highly disruptive to the game.

Detection is obviously a losing battle, but there are ways to address common abuses through game mechanics.
