I would start playing again if this was implemented. There's really no reason not to have it given the high demand. And about floating discs, what's the problem with that? It happens in real life too, assuming you had a disc that had antigravity on it or something. There's no problem with that.

i'd LOVE to set every weapon in the game to either 100, 0, or default inheritance.

set everything to 100, save maybe the plasmagun and it would be awesome

no one cares about this besides a small group of very strange and very vocal individuals

play the game, you'll adapt to the physics very quickly. or dont. again, no one cares. if you people are really that insistent on 100% inheritance you wouldn't have played any of the previous tribes games either, since none of them had it.

go play something else. stop posting. weirdos.

This will get me back to playing again, and I think we deserve it after making all those treads in beta. It should not take long time to implement, as we could do it in console by our self in a matter of seconds...

Sane physics demands 100% inheritance. The only exception would be energy weapons since momentum doesn't apply. Work in some approximation of air resistance is one thing, but partial inheritance doesn't accomplish that, only slowing down the projectile would. A physical projectile should always leave your gun at the same speed relative to the gun, no matter how fast the gun is moving, and whether or not the projectile slows down much after being fired. Anything else is just fantastic nonsense.

If 100% inheritance was implemented as a flag, I'd refuse to play on any other server.

I don't think that's good enough. Flags would clearly have pretty high air resistance. At any significant speed, passing it between players should be like two moving cyclists trying to pass a balloon (still 100% inheritance, though). If flags were designed to be more like a pole or ball or something, then sideways passing is entirely intuitive. Maybe that Hires' testers thought this was unintuitive hints at how the weirdass physics got into this game.

Actually it does! Photons have momentum, and plasma/ions have mass (but not much of it). The latter would probably be heavily affected by air resistance, unless magnetically contained or something...in which case, maybe you could impose some kind of 0% inheritance behavior with future space technology. But otherwise it would inherit the shooter's velocity just like anything else.
