Elysiume Joined: Fri Dec 02, 2011 4:33 pm Posts: 1058	Votekick doesn't work: rework it I have no idea what the number of 'yes' votes is enough for someone to get kicked. The problem is that the default is 'no.' I've been playing on a lot of free shrikes servers, and a lot of them have an agreement that the generators get left alone (they shouldn't even be there, but that's another topic). Inevitably, someone destroys the generators, over and over again. Kicks get started and fail. I propose several reworks to the system. 1. Have it be /votekick <name> <reason>, so that people don't need to ask "why is there a kick?" 2. Completely ignore people who didn't vote. The person who started the vote is 1 vote in favor, the person being voted against is 1 vote not in favor. Have the counts start from there. 3. Set the required votes for a kick to something like 80%. That means you need 3 people to vote in favor if nobody else votes. 4. Have a side rule that if 60% of the people on the target's team vote to kick, it doesn't matter how many people on the other team voted for/against it. People on the target's team should get a bigger say. 5. Have it say who voted what in the chatlog. Something like [ Elysiume: Voted [Yes] in the kick for [PlayerName] for [reason]. ] edit: Don't do that, in order to let people stay anonymous. Instead, have a count of votes. So it would say something like [ Elysiume was votekicked (8 for, 2 against) ] / [ Elysiume was not votekicked (2 for, 8 against) ] or [ Elysiume was votekicked (80%)] / [ Elysiume was not votekicked (20%) ] edit: 6. Actually, part of the problem is that they're hard to see. Slap a black outline on the votekick so that you can actually see it. End result? Kicks are clearer in their purpose and actually work. _________________ 100% inheritance is something the game needs. Jetpacks need to behave more like jetpacks, at all speeds. Also, I'd prefer the Yes/No voting buttons weren't right next to each other that way. Give them a key of separation, or rebind them to something that's easier to touch-type than the F-keys, like on most keyboards, like pgup/pgdn. _________________ Did you know you can disable annoying signatures? Yea, sorry, that would be horrible(it would work though! pissing people off at the same time however), but I agree that the archaic vote system never worked in the old games, and still doesn't now.

(Whch is impossible in this game) My idiot teammates and their idiot teammates voted me off. The real reason I was voted off was because I was holding the flag and the dude who started the vote was an annoying troll who brought friends. Now THAT was annoying considering I spent about 20 minutes of wasted effort. Being kicked out does not mean you should be penalized as far as XP is concerned. Oh also me getting VK'd crashed the game for me too. So.. Thanks for that.

I have no idea what the number of 'yes' votes is enough for someone to get kicked. The problem is that the default is 'no.' I've been playing on a lot of free shrikes servers, and a lot of them have an agreement that the generators get left alone (they shouldn't even be there, but that's another topic). Inevitably, someone destroys the generators, over and over again. Kicks get started and fail. I propose several reworks to the system.

1. Have it be /votekick <name> <reason>, so that people don't need to ask "why is there a kick?"
2. Completely ignore people who didn't vote. The person who started the vote is 1 vote in favor, the person being voted against is 1 vote not in favor. Have the counts start from there.
3. Set the required votes for a kick to something like 80%. That means you need 3 people to vote in favor if nobody else votes.
4. Have a side rule that if 60% of the people on the target's team vote to kick, it doesn't matter how many people on the other team voted for/against it. People on the target's team should get a bigger say.

Yeah, right now votes are often confusing and ineffective, even with players who repeatedly llama the enemy flag and then run inside the enemy base, sabotaging their team in multiple ways.

Have the game immediately pause every-time a votekick appears, giving you a dialog box to vote yes, no or don't care. :lol:

Yea, sorry, that would be horrible(it would work though! pissing people off at the same time however), but I agree that the archaic vote system never worked in the old games, and still doesn't now.

The real reason I was voted off was because I was holding the flag and the dude who started the vote was an annoying troll who brought friends.
