I know threads about Plasma Gun are getting a bit spammy, but i wanted to make an own thread to quickly show forum users what the discussion is all about.


Watching this i thought Hi-Rez should not only nerf the Plasma's hit radius but also buff Thumpers hit radius a bit. What do you think? It looks like it's worse than the disc's...



Splash Radius is smaller than the thumper's and disc's, you can judge it by the light's shadow.

Could you also do an explosion radius test? I'm curious to see if the plasma gun has a larger direct hit radius but a smaller splash radius

You know, the plasma projectile -is- a bit bigger so it deserves a slightly bigger radius (though its probably a bit TOO big), because heck, I thought that was the point of the weapon, to hit in the air. It just needs quite a few (if not a lot) nerfs in numbers.

Same as the thumper, its a smaller projectile as spinfusor and its supposed to have a smaller hitbox...

part of the fun with the plasma gun was the huge AOE
but it didn't kill lights in 2 hits in t1
probably 4 assuming they still had their health kit

but hi-rez is big on 1hk and 2hk weapons because that's what cod fans want when they aren't using pew pew

anyway, prob leave as is I'd say drop the damage to 300 on a direct, but still high for indirect like 200 (but that would be out of whack with the silly 550 vs 770 of the ldl)

hell just fix splash damage first before introducing more splash weapons, but that seems to be at priority # 100 million

edit: after testing it in practice, the projectile also has a very long range which it did not in t1, it would disappear after like 50ft tops, and it travels quite fast. both of these things should probably be nerfed too

I remember the AOE being smaller and the projectile speed being slower, in exchange for more damage, a faster ROF, and the ability to kill base assets more quickly. The AOE in the old games was NOTHING like it is now, especially with the massive MA hitbox.

As for the damage, all weapons have been upped in damage in that fashion.

This begs the question on how much exactly we need to nerf the direct hit hitbox. It already does less damage than other explosives and has the smallest splash radius out of all the explosives in addition to having the least knockback.

If we nerf the direct hitbox to be more in line with the spinfusor, will the gun then be too weak compared to, say, an automatic? I'd be curious to see what the current DPS is for the plasma gun compared to other weapons

Nice video. Really messed up how even when your reticle is red you miss the shot with spinfusor and thumper. It's amazing how hard it is to hit that guy with thumper!

that "massive ma hitbox" is only massive because it travels so fast. the radius on the t1 pg was huge.



although I guess it's different because the splash damage is very big, the projectile perhaps not so much.

but come the F on the plasma gun was like the anti-base rape weapon extraordinaire. they've turned it into an open field menace.

whatever, not ever gonna be t1, never going to fix issues that anyone cares about, hirez is only going for the gold

I want to enjoy this game so badly, but every patch seems to bring new trash without addressing concerns that would benefit everyone (LIKE DISC JUMPING)
