Nothing new, rifles are still boring and lame.
Used them, not the best (suck some days, shred some days).
What's awesome about being pelted across a large area with sprayed bullets? Nothing.

I'd much rather play Spinfusor/projectile weapon matches... Unfortunately custom servers can't lock out automatics... So either I stay in the game and watch all the fun go out the window, or I get to close the game and still watch the fun go out.

Which means there's 2 sides
And while there's a lot of people against autos being the way they are, a good chunk of that is based off of blatant misinformation
As well, we went over why that poll is biased back when it was started
Can we stop grouping everyone up and pretending we're all entirely in agreement on this? Cuz quite frankly your post is obnoxious
And this is coming from someone who sits in here and goes over the same arguments with different people over and over again ;)

It is funny how many people play this game in a religous manor, like there is some right and wrong and if you use a chaingun you are going to temple ruins or something.

When ever I use a chain gun to shred people up I hear nothing but crying, then I ask why arent you using it? And the answers that come are many. I don't find it fun, it takes no skill, etc... But the truth is no one is going to ever notice your chaingun arguement when projectile explosives are doing 70% of the killing. I also cannot help but think some people have sour grapes. alot of the really useful autos are unlocks that are expensive and maybe they just hope that peer presure will stop others from using those against them.

For me personally I dont care. I look at things realistically and say HiRez is probably never going to nerf autos to any significant degree so I might as well get used to raping with them. I might as well build the tracking skills to pull it off. And if they ever do nerf it, when I will retrain myself. But most people do not fall in that catagory. Most people either use them and now have learned to like them through use and defend them, or hate them and do not use them because they somehow think a boycotte is going to get the attention of HiRez. And I also hear everyone waiting for custom server flags to disable them. But I never see large groups of people just raping with them. This means one of 2 things, either they are not really OP or that useful, or people who hate them are really nieve enough to think that they can rally enough support by pretending they do not exist.

LOL... anything can be done, Always!!!!! Most hardcore oldschool tribes players are against the advent of COD/BF weaponry(when it comes down to it, these smgs/pistols/machine guns are just not part of the tribes universe) Tribes used to be about brutal dueling, close quarters combat, not this cowardly cat and mouse crap that these smgs/pistols/machine guns introduce(That is also including the auto heal function as part of the problem)Melee has been almost wiped out as completely worthless unless you are a infiltrator where you can get up and get it done. Air dueling is almost non-existant due to lack in jets(and each subclass has certain differences even though its the same armor class... pfff) Projectile weapons that are as they are not a tribes canon weapon, and alot of oldschoolers wont play... not only because its not part of the tribes universe... but if they wanted that, they would go play BF/COD which do it a helluva lot better, lol

Imagine a mod where you could only heal using medpacks (you get 1 whenever you hit an inventory station, 1 with an ammo drop if you've used yours) and the changes in gameplay that would cause. I'm getting all tingly.

And Technicians: They're more-likely to be near inventory stations, and ambush-turrets in midfield become more powerful.

Wow...this is kinda pathetic. There's 2 sides, but if we're talking specifically this forum, you are so out-gunned it's unbelievable that you're still rooting for the auto side. Even if the poll isn't scientifically accurate, it's certainly more than accurate to point out there are problems with the autos

207 pages of 'arguing'
200 pages of people telling Hi-Rez to fix the d*** game, 7 pages of two people apologizing.

HOW TO MAKE AUTOS SKILLFUL, LESS GAMEY, AND MORE MODERN IN A COUPLE OF STEPS:
Make bullets fall with gravity, don't make bullet drop personalized for each gun, have them follow gravity, only relying on projectile speed to make range differences. (This partially takes place of the RNG cone of fire, which would still be better than nothing if this is impossible)
Lower the hitbox on ALL projectiles, and make every weapon projectile based. (except sniper rifles sadly, unless UE3 is really good at handling incredibly high velocities somehow, then go for it.) (This partially takes place of the RNG cone of fire)

Those are the first two steps, and seeing how the game plays from that point should direct further advancement. (Are autos still OP? Maybe reduce damage, maybe reduce damage falloff range. Are they UP? Tweak velocities or hitbox sizes a bit)
