Nerf or remove all SMG's.

Better remove all the pistols too while you are at it. They'll kill a pathfinder much faster than a spinfuser as well. You wouldn't want that, would you?

It takes skill to aim and shoot a pistol. It takes no skill at all to shoot a f*** warped bullet speed SMG at a medium or heavy and just chew them to pieces.

SMG's are broken.

Yes, the falloff on the hitscan pistols is pretty aggressive, but they'll still be a better dueling weapons. In a game where players spend most their time in the air, it doesn't take much to outclass slow splash damage weapons.

Had a nice game today playing TCN with the TCN4. God heavies melt to that thing.
We need to do something against smgs obliterating heavies as they do at the moment.

SMG's are ez to learn hard to master. Problem is - you dont need to be a master to kill average fusor user. Automatics are just absouletely better then explosives at all levers of skill.

Add IronKane to your friends list and I'll show you the error of your ways in regards to spinfusors. ;)

I don't see how this proves anything one way or another, unless you consider yourself to be an "average fusor user."

And assuming you're not... do you really think that if you went up against someone who was as good with a chaingun as you are with the spinfusor, you would stand a chance in an outdoor duel?

You're right, I do consider myself as above average. Best there is? No. I would say I might be in the same club though. As to your question about an outdoor duel: A chance? There's a lot more to a duel than just weapon statistics. Running headlong into a SMG's range...kinda dumb. Keeping him in my spinfusors range...his death sentence. It's the player, not the gun. Put your opponent at the disadvantage and keep him there, that's how you win a duel.

Most auto wielders want to come in and hose me down. I don't give him a predictable target to lock onto and the moment he touches down...bam, he's at half health and suddenly rethinking his strategy. But now it's too late because now all I need is a second hit and the first one has knocked him off balance.

I give nothing but respect to someone who is good with their weapon of choice, but anyone who thinks I'm an easy kill because I'm using a spinfusor is in for a painful lesson.

Also, the spinfusor is better choice when dealing with multiple opponents. Being able to dish out 50% damage in one shot is very helpful in those kinds of situations.

And like I said (this thread?), look at what's being used in TDM to gauge what's a good duelling class.

This is the main reason i play heavy, because I can kill someone in a duel 70% of the time in 2 disc's and still have 300 hp left :(

If SMGs arent fixed soon, Im simply going to drop this game. The mechanics regarding grace weapons are so fun and interesting, so different and creative...and autos just f*** it up. So. Much.

No, they dont require nearly as much skill as a grace weapon to effectively use. They hit consistently in any situation, regardless of target position, and are effective at all ranges because you both avoid self splash damage AND can fire farther more reliably. There is no "Sweet Spot", they simply destroy anything but lights and SOME very talented soldiers (due to their ability to constantly change position in the air and on the ground while maintaining a firing line on an enemy).

They need to be nerfed to the point that they are SECONDARIES ONLY, filling the role of FINISHERS only used to kill severely weakened, retreating enemies (the chaingun should be an exception if only because its weight class balances it).

Explosives have been and always should be the star of a tribes game.

In sheer pagecount? Yes, by 9 pages
In dominance of one particular side? Not even close
179 pages of pro-100% Inheritance folks verbally wrecking the opposition was fairly entertaining

You say they aren't good against lights? Let me give you something ot think about.... Do you notice how fast the clip gets emptied on all SMGs? Do you notice how fast 10 bullets come out the chaingun?

12 SMG bullets kill a Path and 9 Chain bullets kill a Path.

You do the math.

Over.... Powered

The more I play the game, the more I agree that autos are ruining the game.. They're way too effective at the moment, Chainguns and SMGs completely tear opponents apart. And because of the screen tear effect you won't even get a chance to shoot back as you're basically blinded the whole time.
