Post Tips for new posters: Please read before you post!
Alright, have to say, it's getting rather frustrating seeing a new "mirv>mortar" thread or "hipatch.exe = SPYWARE!!!!!" every other day. Here are some tips, free of charge, that you can use so that those of us who have been around here longer don't want to beat you over the head with a keyboard.

#1. USE SEARCH.
For gods sake please use the search function before you post. There is nothing productive about having three separate threads about the hipatch.exe. In fact it actually is LESS productive because it's more for the devs to read, and if someone makes a good point in one, people following the other 2 threads won't see it.

#2. CHECK THE LAST POST DATE.
When posting in a thread, make sure it is still relevant. Nothing ruins your credibility faster than complaining about things like "those overpowered hitscan AR's" or +1ing a thread that says the scrambler needs a buff.
Image
that leads me to my third point

#3. READ THE PATCH NOTES.
Patchnotes can be found here or in my READ ME thread.

#4. THE GAME IS NOT PAY 2 WIN.
by definition, pay to win implies that there is some weapon or advantage that is unobtainable by any means except payment of real currency.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE. everything can be earned via playtime.
Now if you have a complain about the amount of time necessary to unlock stuff, that is valid, but calling the game pay to win because it takes a long time to unlock stuff ruins your credibility just about as much as complaining about hitscan AR's.

#5. SAYING "HI-REZ PLEASE READ" WILL NOT INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF A DEV RESPONSE.
The devs read the forums, but their current policy is very similar to valve. with the exception of "this bug is fixed" and the occasional announcement, don't expect to see a dev post in your thread.

#6. YOU ARE NOT A PRECIOUS LITTLE FLOWER, SORRY.
Your thoughts very likely do not merit their own thread. if you want to post everything into well laid out post that is very long, please do so, but it you have only a few points, you're better off using the community feedback thread stickied at the top of page 1

#7. SAY WHAT YOU MEAN.
Please, for the love of god, give your thread a descriptive title.
"HiRez i will pay you 30 bucks right now to do this" is NOT descriptive
"THIS GAME IS BROKEN" is not descriptive
"Mortar Physics are bad, suggestions inside" is VERY descriptive
Adding 100 special characters to your thread title doesn't help either

#8. LURK MORE.
A vast amount of information is contained on the forums. Waiting a day to post how the mortar is far to OP can save you some time and verbal beatings. by reading a few threads you may learn a few tricks that you were not aware of to help you counter the weapon that you thought was 'op'
With time, you may even come to reverse your position

#9. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.
which of these 2 players would you rather help?
Quote:
Player 1: this game is a complete pile of crap and all the mortar is seriously OP. Nerf the AOE and damage by 75% to balance it.
Player 2: Hey, can anyone give me a few tips on dealing with the mortar more effectively? it seems to kill me far to often.

Presenting yourself as a know it all when you do not really angers the people who know better

#10. USE THE RIGHT FORUM.
Map complaints go here
Bug reports go here
Exploit reports go here
General feedback goes here

Follow these tips, and I guarantee that you will have 75% fewer forum posters wanting to kick your teeth in, or your money back

Normally I'd agree with #9 but I blew my stack after Hirez allegedly *fixed* the forcefield exploit on the Flag Stand and I ran into it on Arx AGAIN today. I'll play nice up to a point, but Hirez saying something's fixed when it's not really pisses me off.

You are pedaling way too hard to get mod status...

And the pay 2 win debate is not as simple, so you can just declare your subjective definition as the ultimate truth.

There ARE 1-2 weapons that are more powerful or just useful in way more situations than their stock counterparts, that cost a ridiculous amount of XP and gold. Just because there is a slim chance that someone grinds for them for free for months, that doesn't change the fact, that the person unlocking them right away with money has a significant advantage over the VAST MAJORITY of players, who only has the stock weapon. P2W has a broader definition than you imply.

Some balance tweaking could easily resolve these problems though.

You know the worlds gone wrong, when it requires a non-employed member of the public to try and get some sense in the future of this forum.

Good job, although Hi-rez should be embarrassed its come to this. Really is a joke.
