Look i said this a while back, and I'll say it again. Unless Hi-Rez fixes the servers, you shouldn't "discriminate" against those who have to play on certain servers with higher pings:

1) The high ping-er is much worse off. I know this because I've had to deal with 240-330 ping for this past week and a half, and it sucks. I can't chain for Sh!ts. The only thing I can do reliably is snipe, and try to chase with PTH on a good day where I can still somewhat lead my shots enough realizing that a "click" on my fire results in a second delay before the shot gets fired.

2) Others can still chain me down very fast. And let's not talk about the few times I try to cap and I turn around to throw a nitron, and I turn around only to realize it hasn't been thrown yet, and it blows up right below me shooting me up and slowing me down, or I go and try to disc myself and the disc ends up exploding in front of me because I just turned around. Derpa derp derp

Essentially what this is is a tragedy of the commons problem. We're all trying to act rationally in our own best interests. When Hi-Rez makes certain "region" servers that are actually CLOSEST to me, unplayable, I will go to the one that does provide the best, and often times, out of all those servers, a high ping of 240-300+ is what is considered "my best option".

You can't tell someone to quit the game or stop playing just because their ping sucks, especially if Hi-Rez doesn't provide any better alternatives. In the mean time,

JUST FUC*ING DEAL WITH IT. Quite simple. ;)

The high ping-er isn't worse off. My ISP was having problems the other day and while everyone else was a little jerky to me and my shots were coming from behind me (about one second delay in click and shoot) it was still playable. This guy the other day that was warping 10-15 meters didn't have as bad of a ping as I was having. He blamed it on a crappy computer (yeah right my Pentium D doesn't do it) and his crappy ISP. He could have been using a lag switch since it was mostly only doing it when he had the flag but no one mentioned me warping at all when I was having my ISP problems.

That's the difference between a stable ping and an unstable one. If his computer was unable to keep up graphics-wise, it's entirely possible that the storm of fire and projectiles that go off when you grab a flag was causing his rig to stutter, causing a sudden large delay in packets.

Actually they should hardset everyones ping into highest player ping. That would make everyone on the same line. Or hard set it to 200 ping. that way everyone would have fun even someone would have very high ping.

That would be completely fair but now elitist capitalist pigs have unfair great advantage over other players.

There is a good reason why progressive tax is better than flat tax rate.

Now this is just pay to win. Who has better connection= wins. Not fair.

@TMar, Saeviomage is exactly right. You're confusing two separate things.

Unstable ping results in the warping that you see.

Also, the "I can still play somewhat" doesn't make for a good argument. The fact of the matter is that the low ping-er still has an advantage over the high ping-er, especially when it comes to chaining. I never said it was unplayable, it certainly is and I can still hold my own with crappy ping. But when it comes to a 1 on 1 duel against a good raider with nj5, i'm fuc*ed.

So my point still stands, you can't just "ban" or remove kids with high ping until 1) servers get fixed, and 2) even with said condition, you still have to take into account that all people should have free access to this game, regardless of their internet connection. Put yourselves in their shoes, and imagine this to be your favorite game, the one game you look forward to coming back from school/work/abuse from XXXXX, and tell me that if you found out that you can't play because you ping 252 or in this case 151 that you can't play anymore. Seriously, get out of here.

Let's draw a rather cynical analogy: If your IQ is <150, you should not be allowed to have a job. "We already have a lack of jobs, we don't need the "----insert insult----" people to be filling up these jobs, we can do 'em better.

^ For certain people, they just can't do anything about their ping given their geographical or economical situation. So please, be a little bit more thoughtful for the others. (And again, I stress that I come from playing on a 30 ping connection back home in the states, right now temporarily I have some crappy ping, but I'll be back home soon, and even then, even with 30 ping, I'll still vouch for these high ping'ers)

Yes i have put myself in their shoes, it sucks. I understand. But do you think they ever put themselves in my shoes, or yours? If i was in their position, the situation you described, i wouldn't feel right about playing when i got home... knowing that i'm probably going to be causing everyone else in the game a headache because of my super high ping. It would suck not to be able to play, but it's either that or i just say screw the rest of you guys, if i don't get to have some fun then you don't get to either.

"...you still have to take into account that all people should have free access to this game, regardless of their internet connection" -They do, that's not the issue. If you meant to say "all people should have free access to this game and smooth gameplay, regardless of their internet connection"... Well, that's just not a reasonable request. I would love to try the remake of BF2(my :D favorite game) they made for Korea, but i can't even download it from the site. USA ppl don't get to play it because the servers are just too far away and it would screw it up for the locals. That sucks, but that's the way it is.

^Maybe we're not on the same page. What exactly makes a high pinger hard to kill?

We're all arguing based on different grounds, let's get that straight first before moving on.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is your problem with high-pingers? And don't tell me it's that they're hard to hit because they're "warping". That's different from high ping, that's unstable ping. High ping only hurts the player more than the surrounding players. Warping, on the other hand, is a double edged sword thats just kind of lulzy, but that's not associated with high ping, so please don't go making an argument based on a false understanding of the mechanics

edit:
In other words, let's get on the same page before continuing our own individual arguments, please.

One high ping player (130-150 and above) with everyone else at 100+/- and below can and does cause problems... for everyone. It's not a secret.

The server has to sync the high pinger with the rest of the normal pingers and it just can't do it without resorting to warping/rubberbanding/teleporting etc. if the difference between the high pinger and the rest of the normals pingers is greater that appx. 150ms and above. If this wasn't a 'real-time' fast moving game it wouldn't matter... we wouldn't be having this discussion because we wouldn't ever notice it. It doesn't matter if it's easy or hard to kill a high ping player, or who is worse off during the game. What matters it that one person is degrading the performance of the game for everyone else when he/she has the choice not to.

If ppl are selecting regions/servers that not on the same continent as they are, then they're doing it wrong.

Please finish reading all my arguments before arguing something I already discussed. Your whole argument hinges on the fact that this "high ping-er" has better low-pinging alternatives, when in many situations, that might not be the case.

As for the "not on the same continent", Like I said earlier, Get Hi-Rez to fix the servers and you wouldn't have people from Asia playing on West Coast Servers, because sadly enough, the West Coast servers ping better for certain Asian-located players than what we could consider to be "closer" or nearby servers in Japan and Singapore. Why that is the case? I don't know. Hi-Rez should figure that out before you jump on these guys' case.

If it's not intentional, and they don't have any other available, better options, then the player should be free to play in that server. I really don't see why anyone would want to handicap themselves by playing in a server with Higher ping, it just doesn't make sense. (And please don't say it's because they want to have an easier time capping, because then you're talking about exploiters and what not, and that's not what we're arguing here. You won't be able to separate the two, the good from the bad, so don't just say "screw it, let's just screw 'em all". It's ignorant)

That's not what i'm saying at all. Yes i've read it, and this- "Your whole argument hinges on the fact that this "high ping-er" has better low-pinging alternatives..." -is not correct. I understand that some ppl have no alternative but to play and lag the whole game, or simply not to play. Yes, it sucks!

Maybe you didn't see my earlier post?

That version/remake of BF2 is also ftp by the way. Do you also think that i and others in the USA should have access to it? You never answered this...
